When you holiday at Hals Strand Camping and catch your own dinner.
It's free for all our guests and there are great fishing opportunities.
At the campsite you have the opportunity to clean fish at our outdoor kitchens.
Sea trout and garfish can be caught from the coast. Sea trout can be caught all year round, but peaks in spring from March to July. Garfish is more of a family fish, as it's easier to catch in season and you don't need to use fish hooks (so no children get hurt). Instead, you use silk lines that are attached to the garfish's small teeth. Garfish season is from April to July.
If you bring your own boat, Cod and Flatfish are also available in the area.
Great catch!
Fishing in the neighbourhood
Most of the sea trout that migrate to and from the Limfjord's many streams use the Kattegat as a feeding ground and pass through the narrow waters at Hals/Egense. Therefore, many sea trout are caught on the Limfjord coast, especially in spring and autumn when they migrate.
On the open Kattegat coast, sea trout can be caught all year round - and when in season, fishing for herring, mackerel, garfish and various flatfish is popular.
The coastline is shallow and many places have large eelgrass beds, so it is recommended to use waders to reach the fish. It is also possible to fish from a kayak or boat.
You can find more information about fishing in the Limfjord, descriptions of individual fishing spots, fishing tips and much more under Sea Trout Limfjord.
It is possible to launch a dinghy in Hals or Hou, for example.
